Living in Houston requires you to drive a lot. I mean wheel in motion, and gas depleting. Not that stand still thing those L.A-ians do in California...what do you call it? Oh, that's right...TRAFFIC!!! Last year when I was in L.A with my mom for IMATS it took us 2 1/2 hours to get to IMATS and another 1/2 hour to find parking. By the time I got there, sure the lines died down, but I was so exhausted from driving all I wanted to do was sit in the back seat of a car. I would like to sit in a limo really and say "Bitterman, take me to 3605 Awesome Town". The "Bitterman" was in reference to "Family Guy". We watch A LOT of "Family Guy". So much so, if you just quote something, I can immediately finish it for you. Okay, I'm getting ahead of myself...I might not be that good but I know a lot of "Family Guy". Slowly working on "American Dad".
So you might be wondering why this blog is called "Sex Crime." Well, I think this is considered a sex crime but I must have it clarified. Sure I can go on Google and look it up, but what is the fun in being a smart ass? BTW I hate that shit! When you are arguing with your friends about something, and it's not even a heated debate it's simply just chit chatting and one of them whips out their phone to look it up. I get that the facts are important, but why can't we just have a conversation both arguing about something with our own experiences and prior knowledge. THEN, go home and pwn each other by looking it up online. You argue for 30 seconds, someone whips out a phone and the conversation is over. What happened to just natural dialogue? We keep debating and something funny comes up, we order another drink, and continue coming up with more stupid reasoning behind our argument and it's just a good ol' fun time.
Let's have a good ol' fun time right here, right now, this moment.
I was driving to send off some packages a few days ago (BTW thanks to those of you guys who have ordered!). I ended up at a four-way stop sign. To my upper right was a green field. To my left was, I don't know some homes or something. Behind me, I don't remember so I am going to make this up and say a Monster Truck with a license plate that say "I <3 Mom". While I am at this stop sign, I see two dudes walking towards me from the right. One was of athletic built, the other was his chubby, probably comedic funny friend.
Well, the chubby one starts to dash off away from his friend into the field of grass while unzipping his pants. About maybe 30 steps later, his pants drops down and I see his pale flat chubby butt at 10 on a Wednesday morning. I'm thinking to myself "great, so this is how my day is going to start." I wish it was just that bad, but nope, it got worse. As he was sitting down, something came out of his butt. I had to say something, because at first I simply could not grasp what was happening. Now, that I have recollected such horror...I basically witnessed a man take a crap at a stop sign with 5 cars around me watching the same thing. The worst part was, we couldn't stop looking. We couldn't stop looking back and forth at each other across the stop sign to mimic the "did you just see that?" face and head movements. After watching this, everyone snapped back and proceeded on with their lives.
My life is now wealthier with this story -_-". As I was passing the green field, and with him continuing to take his morning dump on my right. I noticed that the field where he was taking is luxury poo, was part of play ground to an elementary school. Now, I am can truly confirm that he is most definitely the comedic funny chubby friend. There is no possible way that this could have happened any differently.
Now I ask you..and I want you to answer me strictly from your opinion, from what you know or have seen...referencing movies, true or false, and tell me is this technically a sex crime? DON'T LOOK IT UP. Just have a conversation down below. Tell me what YOU already know. Because I think, peeing in public in front of a children's playground is considered a sex crime right?
I end you with this story to start your weekend. Have fun ^_^"
Best Wishes, K.L
I had to buy health insurance for my mom a couple of days ago. Since she helps me with my dress line, she doesn't get coverage and I believe health insurance is a necessity. Now, I'm not saying this to get a pat on the back or whatever, I'm just sharing because it makes the story.
Last week she got her insurance welcome package and she kept it in her room on her dresser. Two days ago, she finally brought it out to ask me about it. So, I did what I normally would do....I sat her down and walked her through it. Most of it was me saying "oh that isn't important, this is. You should keep that, and put this away". I don't really read a lot of things, I just skim and see what we should keep (which is everything) and tell her the things she needs to hear which is "this is your pharmacy card and you get 30% coverage if you get hit by a car " (knock on wood).
The insurance package came with four cards. One is for her medication and one is for her doctor visits. Then, there are copies just in case she loses one.
So, she borrowed one of my sharpies and on the one for her doctor visits she wrote "Bac Si", translated "Doctor". On the other card she wrote "Noi Thuoc" and I looked at it and said "Noi?" and she said "Yeah, buy medicine." It clicked, she was trying to spell "mua", translation "to buy". I told her, "Mom, you meant Mua Thuoc."
My sweet mom, spelled it out in Vietnamese "Muh, em Muh. Uh-Ohhh, A-uh-Ah". If you are Vietnamese and can write and read...you know what I'm talking about with the spelling. She looks at me and said "how is my daughter so good?" Interpretation, when your parents say "good" in Vietnamese, they don't mean like a good person. They meant, smart, able, competent, or capable. She gave me a big hug and a kiss and then proceeded to make me a cup of penny wort juice.
My mom, is illiterate and I'm not saying that in a derogatory way, but more so in a factual aspect. She didn't get an opportunity to go to school in Vietnam. She had to drop out of 3rd grade to help her parents out with their farm. As she got older, she learned that she wasn't smart, she simply was brawn. Today, I told her "Mom, you and I are going to be a super team with this dress line. You know why?" She asked "Why, do you think?" "Because, we have both the brain and brawn of this operation". She chuckled "I know I am the brawn, look at you, can't even sew for more than 6 hours without throwing a fit." <---BTW that's also truth.
It wasn't until these past couple of years living in Texas when I finally saw how vulnerable but how extremely persistent my mom is.
Last December when my mom moved to Texas, she wanted a job so she doesn't feel like she was useless. My mom is very limited in her skills and the only thing she is good at, is working a production line. If your parents work in an assembly line....give them a hug. Appreciate them.
I found her a job in a linen company where they launder linens from restaurants and hotels. She was so happy to have a job, and the pay was $7.25, 6 days a week from 7am to 6pm. The company was mostly consisted of Hispanics so she right off the bat was left out. BTW during orientation, there were two other hispanic ladies in the room who looked at my mom and made fun of her. I looked at them and said "Yo puedo entiendo ustedes. Mi ma ma es perfecto. Por favor, no te rias a mi mama" translation: I can understand you. My mom is perfect, please do not laugh at my mom. Did I tell you guys? I took 5 years of Spanish in H.S. I forgot plenty of it, and I am sure what I said might grammatically be incorrect, but girllllll I can watch telenovelas and know exactly what's going on. Yah, it really surprised the ladies and they were quite embarrassed the whole time. My mom, knew exactly what happened. She might not understand Spanish or English, but she knows when I am being snarky and said "thoi ma." Translation, "common now".
On the very first day of training, I had to be there with her to translate everything to her. All I can recall was you should not wear long sleeve shirts when working the iron press and I need to get my mom the fuck out of here. Around noon, my mom looked at me and said "you should go home and work on your stuff." So, I gave her a big hug and I left. BTW I hug and kiss my mom a lot. If you got a problem with that, you got a problem with my mom. You got a problem with my mom PUNK? <---Got that from Stephen Colbert. Don't believe me, listen to his book. Verbatim!!
Yah, off track. I went home realized mom didn't bring lunch to her first day of work. I went ahead and fixed her a very terrible lunch, waited until her lunch break, sneaked back into the factory to find my mom sitting in the corner alone, looking completely lost and out of place. She looks up and sees me with a huge smile on her face. I walked over and asked how her first day was and she responded with "good, I'm getting the hang of it." I gave her her lunch and went back home.
Mom spent that night at my home because it's closer to work. She wasn't brave enough to drive in Houston's Highways just yet, so I told her she can stay as long as she likes.
On day two of work, during lunch she came over to my home and I asked her how was work, and she said "my back hurts really bad. I have to bend down to grab the napkins to push them through the iron press. The Hispanic ladies, I think they are picking on me. A team of women should push the cart of napkins, but when it's time to do that they say only I have to push it." She lays down for a bit on my couch to rest her back, and I asked her what she wanted to do and she asked "what do you think I should do?". I picked up the phone, called George the guy who hired her and said " George, my mom doesn't feel well to come back to work. I am sorry for wasting your time these past couple of days. I just don't think she's well enough to work for the company".
This is how I was pushed into starting my dress line. Now, my success means everything when before it meant nothing. Enough to give me food and shelter and I am a happy camper. Now, I think about my mom. I think about my husband, and I think about the many people that rely on me not for financial means....but for mental and emotional wealth.
Now, I'm not telling you this sob story so you can buy my dresses. I'm telling you because we all become inspired in so many different ways. We are pushed to do things from different experiences. Maybe, I was complacent before I saw my mom walked into that factory. She has worked in many other factories before, how come that didn't phase me? Well, truth is....out of sight out of mind.
If it wasn't for me doing a walk through of that factory, I would have never known what kind of jobs my mother and so many other mothers had to do just to keep a float. Just to give their child a damn iPad for Christmas because their friends has Doctors for parents (nothing wrong with that, be proud of your parent's for working hard!)
This is why I am going to push myself to build the best sweat shop ever. A sweatshop where my moms and all moms will be treated as though they were my mom. Sure my dresses are expensive, and maybe some of you can't afford it. That's fine, Forever21 and H&M are wonderful options. With U.S laborers comes high costs right? I'm creating jobs for women who sacrificed EVERYTHING for their children to have a better chance at life. I have a better chance, and maybe this is a sick way to get rich and do good at the same time. Anyways, my dream of owning a sweatshop is still far from this present. However, I do have a good group of people who are wiling to help. Such as the winner of the graphics contest. She's now helping me design a website for my skirt line and she does it with such enthusiasm and I am grateful. Another viewer saw that I need some extra help and oddly enough she lives in Houston, so hopefully by the time May comes around she can take some stuff off my hands!
I'm happy. Everything is slowly coming together and maybe it's 3am and none is reading this. I'm just sending out this love vibe into the interweb and maybe it infects someone. Let that infection create mucus in your mind to woo you to do something you would have never done with a clear mind. Shoot, this sounds like I am describing ecstasy. Let's end on a positive note. So here it is +++.
Anyways, hope you guys enjoyed my story. Send happy vibes to my momma and tell me about your momma down below.
Best, K.L
P.S If there are typos. Please excuse them. I am a terrible writer....and it's late -_-". However, it's no excuse for terrible grammar.
Hello Ladies and Gents! As I had predicted, this blog was just a phase and project that was waiting to find it's end. You know? I had a lot of fun while it lasted. I enjoyed taking photos of myself while I explored my closet and the new love for a new pair of shoes. Sure it only lasted a good whole month of sufficient blogging, but it was a lustful month. My eyes sparkled and twinkled at the sight of a new pair. My butt clenched after paying for such a pair. My heart, raced as I opened a new package and slipped my feet into something leathery, woody, branded and new. Then, with a slow sigh I let out a slight "oh gaawwwwddddd" as I stood up to prance around in my new gems. Those were the fabulous days.
Now? You cannot find me without ratty hair, glasses pressed up against my face and sometimes, I am walking around in the same pair of jeans I wore two days ago. In my defense........crap....I don't have an excuse. However, with a shotty excuse comes a really bad explanation. I ran into a garden gnome and he stole my fabulous OOTD. In case you didn't know, OOTD is this new thing these young hip girls would call "Outfit Of The Day". One would wear such an ensemble and one would Instagram the shizz out of the details of such an ensemble. Then, One might give the photo a filter so One can feel as though One is a photographer. One..as in I...am not a photographer. Just a girl with a camera--Stewie Griffin.
To conclude One's blog, I will announce that I am hanging this shoe blog up by it's shoe striiiiinggg uhhh strap.
HOWEVER!!! Big HOW and EVER.
I will use this as my personal blog. A blog where I practically shut my eyes and type whatever I feel like typing. I won't even think about it, I'll just type it. Pine trees don't have a Spine, but all Spines have pines. Think about it.
By the way, I have been typing really weird things in my video description boxes, it's nice to know you guys are reading it.
To finally conclude this conclusion. I'm going to blog about my feelings. You are going to read it, you are going to feel my feelings and you will comment down below to make my feelings feel better or worse. Your choice, I'm not forcing you even though I prefer to feel better. (I have a tracking device on this blog and I know EXACTLY where you live. I mean EXACTLY, if you are on the toilet reading this from your Ipad...I know about it.)
Anyways EX-OH EX-OH My Junkies! Have a great weekend and I bid you are See You Later.
K.L
Hey Everybody! Do you remember when I said that "life" happens and I will eventually neglect this blog? It came sooner than I had hoped. Anyways, just a few updates on me... 1) My videos are now uploaded every Wednesdays and Fridays. It's a lot of work and takes up almost half of my week. 2) The other half of the week is spent working on my skirt line and making dresses for this prom season. Not my favorite thing to do at the moment but I gotta practice right? 3) My Ola Cut Heels Looks will be pushed back until April. This is better for me because I blew a good majority of my money on resources for the skirt line. 4) I will be taking orders for the 50's inspired dress in a few weeks. It will give my mom something to do since she's a freshly stay at home mom and she's kind of bored out of her mind.
Now time for the graphics winner! Before I announce and disappoint a few of you guys, let me just state that I was completely blown away by the entries. I was just hoping for a few sketches here or there, but I was completely taken back by the amount of professionalism so many of you guys had shown. One particular person I want to mention is Amanda Lee. She's 14 and the presentation of her work really impressed me. She's going to get very far in life.
Here are the top 5 that took a painstaking amount of time to narrow down to. You guys really made it hard for me.
SHUKY LEUNG
NATALIE VONG

| I decided that I am going to pick a 1st place winner for $75 Gift Card and a 2nd place winner for a $50 Gift Card. There were so many wonderful creations that was so hard for me to really just pick one. Also, once the skirt line launches (I am projecting in July) you each will get a set of skirts from my line. Kapeesh?
Drum Roll Please!!!!!
1st Place Winner is Shuky Leung. I love how she presented her work, and I also loved that the Pear is very geometrical. The coloring is great as well as the small pear that is going to be sewn into the tags.
2nd Place Winner is Natalie Vong. I love that the purple is against a softer and paler yellow. The contrast works just great for me. I also like that the whole look is very sweet and cute. Again, fabulous presentation!
If any of you guys are in dire need of a graphic artist and just want some creative input, please don't hesitate to contact me for any of their contact information. They all did such wonderful jobs!
Again, congrats to everyone and congrats to the top winners!

Hi everyone! I feel like I haven't been on the blog for awhile. Have no fear! I will be back in full frenzy next week with a few looks that I wore along with my Ola wedges. First thing first!! I need to pick the winner for the Forever21 wedges! I've decided that I'm going to just give away gift cards as prizes in my next blog giveaway. Can you believe it's already Mid February? That means I have to pick out another shoe for March...and host another give away from the month of February. Whew time has really flow by in 2013. Anyways, I realized that I hate shipping and refuse to pay $7.00 to USPS and that's why you all will get gift cards as prizes. Ka-Peesh?Another note, I have received a few entries for the graphics contest (click here). Deadline for that is February 27th, so if you still plan to submit something..please get it in by then. I'm seeing a few I really love and can't wait to share them with you guys. Drum roll puhleaseeeeee...the recipient of a pair of Forever21 wedge booties is.... Lucy said she would wear them with "my brown tights and a long top. Along with some dangling jewelry and a white cardigan". Sounds like a super comfy outfit to me!
Congrats!! You should have received a Twitter message from me with information on how to claim your prize.
Also, before I forget! Thank you guys for supporting my blog and taking out the time to read my horrible grammar (it has seriously went down hill ever since college). Also, thank you guys for supporting my silly shoe habit. I am learning quite a lot and have been loving all of your input on my next shoe.
For now, just take it all with one step at a time.

I'm dying. In two days, Prabal Gurung will be on sale at Target. I hope it doesn't get too sold out at my Target. I understood that Missoni got sold out pretty fast here in Texas...but for some reason I have a feeling Prabal won't. I'm gauging this on how Jason Wu did for Target. I still love everything I bought from the Jason Wu collection, but I'm really loving everything Prabal Gurung has to offer. Not to mention he has SHOES!!! Am I going to wait in the long lines to buy my stash of Prabal Gurung attire? Possibly not. I will, however be refreshing my Target website to get my fingers on some of his wonderful pieces.
BTW I saw this girl at Wal-Mart today prancing around in her Proenza Schouler sweatshirt (Neiman's Collab). I wanted to rip it off of her........I didn't get one, and now I'm sad.
So here are a couple of things I MUST HAVE. I might cry a little inside if I don't get any of them, but life will move on. After all, I have my happiness and my health right?
First date sweat shirt. Just because I didn't get the Proenza one.
|
First date blouse with mesh insets. This is so cool!
|
Nolita Print Shirt Dress....easy for spring, no pants for summer, and pleather leggings for winter. Done!
|
Floral Crush blazer, blouse and shorts. I love the shorts the MOST!
|
Meet the parents dress. A classic silhouette that I need to have in my stash of dresses. I hardly wear them so when I buy one, I want a really outstanding one.
|
Apple Red Full Skirt Dress. I might not buy this because I can easily make this (60's dress I made, I just need to insert some black into the sleeves). Let say I can't make this, then yes I would totally buy this.
|
Ankle Strap Pumps...Gosh!! I want them all. If I had to pick, I might go for the Blue ones. I have black Zara ones, and I want the yellow caged ones above, and I want to save for a different red shoe...so blue it is!
|
Lace up Pumps. I'm debating between the Black and Yellow ones. I'm gonna try to score the yellow ones. Because of down below.
Yeahhhh...this is a better black shoe.
| Anyways, if you guys want to see the full collection you can check out refinery29.com. I stole these photos from there too. What would you like from the Prabal Gurung for Target collection? Share with me down below. <3 K.L
It goes to show, you should never ever judge a book by it's cover. Or in this case, a pair of shoes by it's style. I myself thought these shoes would not be enough of the "pop" to titillate my shoe loving needs. Turns out, they are my favorite, if not one of my favorite pairs I own. Here are some closer up photos of the Tory Burch Elina Wedge if you want to have a look see. By the way, I have to apologize for arousing you with these shoes. Sadly in December they were all sold out! I tried to look at multiples sites but to no avail, only Bloomingdale carries them. They are in black and a size 5. I guess if you guys wanted them, you had to buy them the same time I did! Aside from the catastrophe of the broken wedge, I am very much in love with these shoes. I took them to "The Houston Quality Shoe Repair" to get them fixed. There was a lot of great reviews on YELP and someone actually referred me to them on Instagram. If you haven't followed me on instgram, do so right now! I brought them in on a Tuesday and they were finished by Friday. It only cost me $12.00 to get them fixed and he told me they re-glued and re-nailed the wedge back in. I should not have a problem with them again. A few of you suggested that I should take them back to the Tory Burch store. Well, I bought them on ShopBop and I didn't want to send them back since these were the last pair in my size. I really love them so I just forked up the extra $12.00. This mean I went over budget for my $300 max. Anyways, I really love them and they are great shoes! Here are some alternatives to these shoes if you want to take a look. I am also hosting a giveaway for a pair of Forever21 alternatives on that same blog! So be sure to enter. Next time I'll buy a size 7 just to mix things up a bit. I'll probably throw in shoe gift cards or something if I end up being too lazy to ship things that month. Since it's the start of February, let's bid a farewell to these shoes and move forward with the Ola sandals that won for the month. Alrighty...let's recap what I wore with these shoes. If you want to see more photos of these outfits just click here. Anything and everything that has to do with these wedges will be in that link. Now we ~°K.L°~
Before we end this month with the Elina Wedges, let's take a look at the alternatives. It was a bit difficult for me to find something similar. I felt like the wedges stood out because of it's beautiful burnt sienna color. However, you can find something pretty close to it and here are my top picks.
$198 Ann Taylor Buckle Leather Wedge Bootie
$62.99 Chinese Laundry Very Best Bootie @ Zappos
Liz & Co.® Basil Wedge Booties $47 @ JcPenny
On Sale $40.00 Jennifer Lopez Platform Wedge Booties @ Kohl's
On Sale $13.65 Faux Leather Wedge Booties @ Forever21
I went ahead and bought a pair of the Forever21 booties. They were on sale and looked like they would be pretty similar in coloring. Turns out the picture was quite false. The boots ended up being more of a taupe color. The fit is a bit too opened around the ankles, of course I have a very small ankle so it might just be my fault.
The comfort on these are incredible. They walk nicely and feel extremely light in comparison to the Elina Wedges. There is a couple of reasons why these are a tad bit more comfortable. These wedges are not made out of a heavy cork/wood like the Torys. Also, it's made out of faux leather vs. genuine leather. But comfort is comfort.
If you compare the two side by side, the Elina wedges are a bit higher in the heel. This is another reason why the forever21 wedges are a bit more comfortable. Also, the leather on the Tory wedges is a bit thicker and stiffer. This gives forever21 the edge on comfort. It also make the fit on the the Torys a bit smaller.
Aside from the logo and a couple of seams, the shoes are quite similar in shape, fit, and style. There is no way, a couple of seams and even a logo can be the difference between a $13.00 shoe and almost a $300.00 shoe. Yes, quality and maybe materials might factor in a difference of $100 bucks or so, but still, the Torys are drastically much more expensive. I have this theory that a good pair of shoe, with comfort, great materials, and style should cost around $80-$100. If you are paying more than $100 on a pair of shoes, you are JUST paying for the logo/brand. For example, Steve Madden, Nine West, Rock Ports makes GREAT quality shoes hitting the $80-$100 price range. Why not buy those shoes? Simple, the brand is what make a mark on us. The notion that the more something costs does not always mean the better the quality. Quality plateau's at a certain price point. After that price mark, you are just paying for a brand. A little bit of food for thought! Anyways! I'm hosting a give away for the Forever21 wedges. This is in celebration of the first month of shoe blogging and not giving up on it yet. The shoes are a size 6, each month I'll try to host a giveaway for the alternative pair. I'll keep in mind with buying them in different sizes. Rules:1) You must follow me either on instagram/twitter and a subscriber on my YouTube channel. 2) You must leave a comment down below answering the question "What would you wear with these boots?" 3) In the comment you must leave me your twitter/instagram user name so I can later contact you if you win the shoes.4) Must me older than 18 yo or have guardian permission.5) Opened internationally. Best of Luck! I will announce the winner on this blog two weeks from now. ~°K.L°~
Is it me? Or do you guys have extremely expensive taste? When I said I was setting a budget of $300 each month for shoes, it doesn't mean get as close as possible to that price. This is the second pair on the blog where you guys have voted for a pair that is a hairline short of $300. LOL I'm just teasing you all. Even though I set budget for myself, I usually keep my eyes on the lower end of the budget. I did the same when we went house hunting and some how we ended up on the higher side of our budget. Sometimes, things are just too perfect right?
So the winning pair won with 129 votes and the Bottega Veneta Patent d'Orsay Pump in second at 110 votes. I would have to say that this kind of shocked me a bit. I was surprised when the Bottegas started to catch up with the Ola sandals. I thought it would be a bit too plain for most of you guys. I guess a classic never gets old right?
I'm really happy that the Ola sandals won! It was listed as one of my favorites and because I love lace, leather, and anything laser cut...it pretty much excites me on so many different levels.
With tax I ended up paying $297.69 for the shoes. Thank goodness shipping is free with shopbop.com. By the way, they have really fast shipping!
If you guys are interested, the shoes also comes in mint green. I personally think it's a little weird to have it in Mint, but to each their own. However, both of these shoes are PERFECT for spring. It's great for the Valentine's day look, and isn't too lovey dovey for everyday wear during the Spring season.
I can't wait for them to arrive this Friday! Hopefully we won't have another heel catastrophe like we did with the Elina Wedges.
~°K.L°~
