When I am in a funk, I usually don't make YouTube videos because it's hard to put on a happy face on camera. Instead, I dive myself into a fashion textbook. It's good to brush up on old skills and also learn new ones. I read over the textbooks from my class and I even try to read new ones that are offered from other schools.
As you guys may know, I am going to start selling some of the stuff I have made. These shorts are side projects I'm playing with, but yes, I will take orders for them once I decide on my main fabric. This one is a test sample for fit and for pattern grading. It turned out quite nice. Not to brag (completely bragging), but I patterned it and it came out perfectly on the first try. The Chevron panels were individually sewn in. Twenty four painful pieces and the shorts came out pretty bitching! I've pieced much worse things, but I guess I was happy since I was in a mood.
I have to thank my mom for keeping it all organized for me. I sewed on the right panels and she did the left ones because I had to grade the shorts. The only reason why I am able to start selling my stuff is because my mom is willing to help. Aside from taking orders, shipping, ordering fabrics, patterning, and grading...I practically have no time to sew. Basically, I'll sew the sample pieces and my mom will start helping me fulfill orders. Still a lot of work to think about. I'm anxious, excited, and a little proud that I am taking this next step. However, the shorts are not what I'm really excited about. My secret idea is coming up soon, maybe after Valentine's day I'll "launch" it.
